Chaplin to Moosejaw

This is a beautiful old brick home in the small town of Mortlack in 1906. It was Doctor Cliff's home and office. It looks to me that there was a huge building boom all over the prairies between 1900 and 1914. Then all the young men went off to war and many did not come back. This little place has a bunch of interesting things happening and has a tourist air about it. Quite different from most small places.
Over the last two days the land has gradually changed from rolling grassland to flatter crop lands. More farms and small towns. Easier pedalling too but my beautiful tail wind has petered out.
Moosejaw. The big moose was west of it's present location when we went through here ten years ago. It has been moved to the new information center and the jet mounted recently. It must have been quite a job to drag the moose to the other side of town because it looks like it weighs a couple of tons. I'll leave the trans Canada tomorrow and angle down towards Estevan and the U.S. b order. Not bad weather today. Had my shorts on for the first time since leaving Calgary!
